White Cane
Fund
Twice a year the Fair Grove Lions solicit
funds directly from the general public at the intersection of Holly Hill
and Randolph Street in Thomasville. 100% of the money collected goes
directly to the White Cane Fund. The Fund is used to pay for North
Carolina Lions Foundation programs and services including helping blind
campers attend Camp Dogwood, purchasing eyeglasses and paying for medical
expenses through the Matching Fund Program. Statewide, North Carolina
Lions contributed $752,862 in 2007-2008, providing the following programs
and services: 70 hearing aids; 1,311 white canes; 171,502 recycled pairs
of eyeglasses; 14,697 Vision Van screenings; 708 campers attending Camp
Dogwood; 13 educational grants to
